Letter from the Executive Director

Alan DoswaldThe Fruit of many years
Biography of Alan Doswald, Executive Director

“What good is it my brother, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds?  Can such faith save him?  Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food.  If one of you says to him, ‘Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed,’ but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it?  In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.” – James 2:14-17

Deep and Wide

Dear Friends,

The Church is the largest company in our city with 500 branch offices.  It is the only group that has everything it needs to change a community.  After 38 years in ministry in the Fresno area, I am still enthusiastically mobilizing the Church to bring transformation to lives and communities.  Bill Hybels of Willow Creek Church has said “the local church is the hope of the world.”  I couldn’t agree more!

As ESA celebrates over 30 years, God is leading us to go “deep and wide” as we continue to mobilize Christian churches.

Deep…in terms of helping more churches in the Fresno area become more deeply involved in local mission in their neighborhoods and community.  We want to have fruit that will last.  (John 15:16)

Wide… in terms of helping other cities in the Central Valley and beyond to mobilize their Christian churches to transform lives and neighborhoods using some of the ministry models God has given us.  We serve in an area of great need.

God has given us several ministries under ESA in which we mobilize Christian Churches and individuals to serve.

None of this could have happened without the guidance and provision of Almighty God and the loving service and support of so many of His servants.  I am grateful.  God is faithful!

In His Service,

Alan Doswald
