A native of Fresno, Rob is excited to see the Lord work through His people to transform lives and transform our community.

Alan Doswald
Community Connections
I have served in full-time Christian ministry in Fresno, CA since 1972. I served in Youth for Christ for 10 years. Then in 1982, the Lord led me to found and direct Evangelicals for Social Action (ESA) in Fresno, to mobilize churches to help people in need.
While directing ESA, I also served as a consultant for World Vision for 15 years, where I helped many cities across the U.S. develop Love INC ministries, which organize churches to work together to serve their communities. I continue to serve as Executive Director of ESA/Love INC in Fresno.

Paul Haroutunian
ESA Assistant Director and Loving our Neighbors, Program Director
I attended seminary at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School in Chicago, graduating with a M.Div. in Missions & Evangelism. I formerly served on staff with youth at Pilgrim Armenian Congregational Church in Fresno, with Youth for Christ, and as Young Adults Pastor at the Bridge Evangelical Free Church. At Evangelicals for Social Action (ESA) I serve as Project Director for “Loving your Neighbors.” I am also part the pro-life movement in Fresno and a part of the Armenian Turkish Pastors Initiative, bringing Armenian and Turkish Pastors together to discuss and work through issues of reconciliation.

Karen Hodge
Office Administrator
Married for 33 years to my husband Drake, we have two grown children and are blessed to be grandparents! I have been fortunate to serve as the Office Administrator at ESA for the past 9 years and continue to be grateful to God as He equips me to do His Kingdom work.

Marva Ward
Executive Assistant
I came to ESA as a volunteer in 2015. I was unemployed for the first time in my life, so volunteering sounded like a great idea. I volunteered for almost a year, and then when the Executive Assistant position became available, the Lord blessed me with the position for which I am ever grateful! Connecting churches in our community to create unity, and mobilizing Christians, and Christian churches to help people is just where God placed me.

Joann Pummill
Bookkeeper
After nine years in public accounting and seven years in private accounting, I came on staff at ESA in September 2012. I have been married to the love of my life, Ron, for twenty years. We have three very active teenage boys, a sixteen-year-old and thirteen-year-old twins. As a family, we are very involved in ice hockey, both watching and playing, and going to Six Flags Magic Mountain as often as possible. I have been blessed by the opportunity to serve the Lord through ESA.

Christine Madkins
Clearinghouse Coordinator Assistant
People of God,
I wanted to do some volunteering and couldn’t decide if I wanted to serve at a hospital or find a Christian organization in order to help others. I was invited to come to the ESA / Love In the Name of Christ banquet when I made my decision. I have now volunteered for the last 10 years. I have enjoyed my time and made new Christian friends. I am now a staff member and I will continue to prayerfully serve others.
Meet the ESA/Love INC Board Members

Jim Tienken
Two Cities Church
I serve because ESA helps the Church to serve the community. ESA/Love INC connects churches and encourages them to love their neighbors.

Matt Cook
Executive Pastor, Campus Bible Church
I have served on the ESA Board since 2004. I have chosen to be involved, because ESA is mobilizing the church in Fresno/Clovis to transform our community with the love of Christ. ESA is committed to coming alongside my church and helping us follow the command of Jesus to love our neighbors as ourselves!

Rick Arii
Pastor, Beth David Messianic Congregation
The ministry of ESA is critical to the advancement of unity amongst brothers in the greater body of Messiah within our city. No other organization does as much to leverage the strengths and value of individuals and congregations, coming together to extend love to our community in practical ways. If there is any way I can help, I’m on board!

Paul Binion
Pastor, Westside Church of God
I enjoy serving on the board of ESA/Love INC, because I have a need to collaborate with other believers who have a heart to see our city transformed through the Body of Christ at work.

Bruce McAlister
Pastor, Saints Community Church of God in Christ
Being on the ESA/Love INC board gives me an opportunity to better serve the faith community. I enjoy being able to talk with pastors about how the ministry can help us minister to the poor.

Andrew Feil
Associate Director, Every Neighborhood Partnership
ESA loves the church of Jesus Christ. It has been and continues to be a vital link in the Evangelical community. As much as I can, I want to help ESA equip the Church to serve our city and our neighbors.

Sylvia Plumb
I am blessed to serve on the ESA Board to witness first hand that the needs of the last, the least and the lost are being met with loving generosity through ESA and the Body of Christ.
“…Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine you did for me.”
– Matthew 25:40
